Family Advocacy Program
The Wynona's House Family Advocacy Program is crucial to the success of child abuse investigations and to helping children and families receive comprehensive, compassionate and effective services. Our Family Advocate provides support and assistance to children and non-offending family members dealing with the multi-level trauma of child sexual and physical abuse.
The Family Advocate educates non-offending families about the various roles of the Wynona’s House partners. Families learn how investigation, prosecution and treatment will proceed, and about the systems that are in place to help children and families. The Family Advocate conducts a needs assessment and connects families to support services such as counseling, medical care, housing, domestic violence, safety concerns, educational issues, employment, financial assistance, food, clothing and other basic needs. The Family Advocate works with families throughout the process, helps insure compliance with best-practices, and follows-up with the family after their appointments at Wynona's House end to ensure that healing continues after treatment.
